About

Hyperlite
Media.

Hyperlite Media is an independent publication covering cinematography, camera technology, and post-production workflows for working filmmakers, videographers, and broadcast professionals.

The site was started out of a simple frustration: too many gear reviews are written by people who don’t actually use the equipment on real projects. Every piece of content here comes from hands-on experience, cameras that have been carried on location, software that has been used in actual delivery pipelines, and techniques that have been tested under real production pressure.

What We Cover

The focus spans the full image-making pipeline. On the front end, that means camera systems, lenses, lighting, and acquisition formats, with particular attention to RAW workflows, CinemaDNG, and the cameras that support them. On the back end, it means color science, grading tools, codec selection, and delivery formats.

Live broadcast and streaming infrastructure is a growing area of coverage as more productions move toward IP-based workflows and cloud production.

Spectra Studio

Hyperlite Media also builds software. Spectra Studio is a macOS application for RAW color grading and ProRes export, built specifically for filmmakers who work with CinemaDNG sequences, OpenEXR, and camera-original video files. It grew directly out of the workflows covered on this site.

Who’s Behind This

Hyperlite Media is a one-person operation based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The site, the reviews, and the software are all built and maintained by the same person, a working videographer and broadcast enthusiast who would rather be testing gear and developing tools than managing a content team.
